CrossFit is defined as constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements. What does THAT mean? Constantly varied workouts allows an athlete to be well rounded through a broad spectrum of motions and skills. From running to wall balls, rope climbs to back squats, kettlebell swings to snatches, CrossFit builds athletes that have an ability to take what life has to throw at them no matter what the task. Being expected to perform at high intensities pushes an athlete past boundaries that they wouldn’t normally push themselves through on their own. Functional movements are those that recreate natural movements found in real world situations. All of this is accomplished while upholding high levels of safety.
Workouts, also known as WODs (Workout of the Day), vary from day to day and are posted daily. Athletes are encouraged to log their daily workouts using either a notebook or www.BeyondTheWhiteBoard.com. This allows you to track your progress over time and see the significant steps they’ve made.
The CrossFit community has harnessed the natural camaraderie that comes from sport and competition which allows those who are a part of it to grow and achieve their fitness goals in a healthy and supportive environment.
