Kara was involved in many sports growing up including soccer, softball, dance, and cheerleading. She stopped partaking in organized athletics during college, but continued her passion for hiking, dance, and yoga. It was during these years that she had to adjust to becoming gluten free as her body could no longer tolerate it. This sparked her interest in nutrition and its effects on the body and mind.
Kara has a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and is simultaneously pursuing a career in that field. During her first year of graduate school, she started CrossFit as a form of "self-care" and was immediately hooked by the feelings of accomplishment and community. Within her first year as a member, Kara began working at DogTown shadowing classes and aiding in many front desk duties. Soon she passed her Level 1 course and joined the team a coach, DogTown born and bred.
Kara has also recently found a love for obstacle mud runs. In 2015, she completed her first Spartan Trifecta finishing courses with a variety of terrains and climates.
You will often find Kara and her Jindo dog Bailey at DogTown in the mornings and weekends. Her favorite types of work outs are anything with a fun theme or working in groups pushing each other to dig deeper, go farther, and push harder.
